Associate of Applied Science in Vocational Nursing (VN AAS) 2040 clock hours/60 weeks

Course Objective:
The purpose of the CBD College Associate of Applied Science in Vocational Nursing Program is to prepare competent vocational nurses who can provide direct client care in all settings where nursing takes place under the direction of the licensed professional nurse and physician.

At the completion of the program, the graduate vocational nurse will recognize the physical, social and emotional needs of the client and family. By utilizing the nursing process, the graduate will actively participate in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating safe, competent nursing care. The program objectives state the entry-level competencies, which are measured by the achievement of all level, theory and clinical objectives.

Students, who foresee pursuing career advancement to a Registered Nurse in the future, may also choose to complete the requirements for an AAS Degree in Vocational Nursing. Choosing this option will enable the graduates to enter the nursing field as a Licensed Vocational Nurse upon completion of the course and obtaining licensure.

Completion of the General Education requirements for the AAS Degree program will help transfer to an educational program for Registered Nursing, when a student chooses to continue climbing the career ladder. The award of transfer credit is at the discretion of other institutions and is not guaranteed.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates may obtain employment as:
