Keep a Breast Swab Test Day!
February 15 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Katharine Magsaysay from the Keep a Breast Foundation (KAB) visited campus Tuesday, January 31st from 12PM- 2PM in the Student Resource Center, and conducted no out-of-pocket cost cancer prevention screenings for all students AND employees with the following insurance providers: Medicare, Tricare, All PPO plans, Kaiser and United Healthcare (PPO and HMO). A test that used to cost thousands of dollars is now accessible to CBD College students and employees with qualifying insurance.
Thanks to Biogenetix and Aeon laboratories (and of course, KAB), these tests can now be done in California, right here on campus. All students needed was the copy of their insurance card and their driver’s license to participate. The big message KAB wants the world to know is that prevention is the cure! “Everyone should be their own health advocate, and this is an important first step,” reads their KAB Cancer Screening informational packet. The test checks for all 37 markers for cancer – from prostate to breast cancer and everything in between. The whole process takes 15-20 minutes. Test results take 8 weeks from the time the lab receives them and are emailed straight to the patient.
