This occupational therapy accreditation milestone means our program meets the rigorous standards set by the profession’s governing body. Once the program achieves full Accreditation Status, graduates will be eligible to sit for the NBCOT exam, the national certification examination administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. The program must complete an on-site evaluation and be granted Accreditation Status before its graduates will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR).

In addition, all states require licensure to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination.

Graduation Requirements:

A Master’s degree is awarded in Occupational Therapy to students who complete all course work in no more than 150% of the total number of hours in the program with at least a 80% grade point average, and who are in attendance for at least 90% of the total didactic course hours.
